Who we are

Sudoku Through Time is made by Lydex Solutions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17117278), registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZC112933). You can contact us at ed@lydexsolutions.co.uk.

The short version

No ads. No tracking. No account. Your puzzles, profiles, progress and stats stay on your device. The only record kept anywhere else is that the full game was bought, under a random ID, so you can restore it. On Android, scanning a friend's QR code also sends Google an anonymous technical report, described below.

What stays on your device

Puzzles in progress and completed, profiles and characters, stats, streaks, achievements, settings, puzzles you type in or scan, and any backups you make. We never see any of it. You can delete a profile and its progress in Settings, Manage profiles, and deleting the app deletes it all.

The camera

Snap & Solve uses your camera to read a printed sudoku. The picture is processed on your device to find the numbers. It is never uploaded, and it is not kept unless you choose to save the puzzle.

Scanning QR codes

When you scan a friend's challenge QR code, the code is read on your device and the picture is never uploaded. On iPhone and iPad, Apple's own scanner reads it and sends nothing. On Android, the scanner is Google's ML Kit, which sends Google technical usage reports, such as the device model, the operating system and app version, how long the scan took and any error codes, under a random per-installation identifier that does not identify you. Google uses these reports to keep ML Kit working well and does not pass them on. Nothing is sent if you never scan a code.

Saving to Photos

If you save a share card through your phone's share sheet, your phone may ask you to let the app add images to your photo library. Snap & Solve can also use a photo you choose from your library; the app sees only that one photo. It cannot browse your photos.

Reminders

If you turn on daily reminders, they are scheduled on your device. There is no push server and we cannot send you messages.

Sharing and challenges

Share cards, challenge codes and QR codes contain the puzzle, your time and the result, and a code carries your cartoon character. They include your profile's name only if you turn on My name on shared puzzles in Settings, and never your location or anything else that identifies you. You choose whether and where to share them.

Purchases

Apple or Google take payment; we never see your payment details. To let you restore the full game on your devices, we use RevenueCat, Inc., which acts as our processor. When the app opens it creates a random ID, and RevenueCat records against that ID whether the full game has been bought, with the store's purchase details (product, date, price and transaction number). Each request also carries basic technical details, such as the device model, the operating system version, the app version and the language, and on iPhone and iPad the identifier Apple gives each app maker for a device (identifierForVendor), which is used only to deliver and restore your purchase. We can see anonymous purchase totals in RevenueCat's reports. RevenueCat never receives your name, email address, advertising identifier or payment details. RevenueCat is based in the United States and protects this data under its data processing terms, including standard contractual clauses. The purchase record is kept for as long as it is needed to restore your purchase; email us with the order number from your Apple or Google receipt if you would like it deleted.

Age signals in some US states

Some US state laws require apps to check an age range supplied by the App Store or Google Play. Where such a law applies, the app reads that signal on your device to comply. It is not stored, and it is never sent to us or anyone else.

Children

Sudoku Through Time is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Because the app keeps everything on your device, the only thing we could hold is the anonymous purchase record above. Email us and we will help. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
