We build apps we would trust

A small independent studio in England. Every app we make is ad-free and collects no data, with no investors to please and no growth targets to hit.

The story

Why we started

We are a small independent studio in England. We started Lydex because the apps we wanted did not seem to exist: a proper board game that did not interrupt itself with adverts, and spelling practice that did not quietly file a child's progress on somebody else's server.

So we built them. Nine Men's Morris Through Time is coming soon to the App Store. SpellStar is in development, tested weekly against the only benchmark that matters, which is whether a child asks to play it again.

How we work

Four rules we will not bend

Privacy first
Data that stays on the device cannot be leaked, sold or subpoenaed. So it stays on the device.
No adverts
Our apps are funded by the people who use them, in plain sight: one fair unlock for Morris, clear plans for SpellStar. Attention is not a currency here.
Useful for free
Free tiers are genuinely playable, not demos with the fun sawn off.
Small and slow
A small team, taking the time to get details right, answering our own support email.
